Poetry box | Recovering Romantic
Written and Designed by Bowy Dandlau Co-Designed by Bella Goudkamp
It colours the sky as a question mark. One day an indomitable magenta, the next a blushing ember. Can the rising and setting of the sun be both hopeful and unnerving?
In Bowy Dandlau’s poetic debut Recovering Romantic, this question becomes imperative. With ten elegant lyrical pieces, paired with pictures of a smouldering sun behind darkened facades, we are invited into the world of the rosy fingered dawn. The story of a broken heart. As if we were the menders ourselves, the poetry collection is received as a DIY book stand enticing a ritualistic and thoughtful reading space.
In a few words the melancholy and simplicity of a sun-kissed sky and the push and pull of falling in love is presented with gentleness and lingering. Why do lovers meet when the sun sets? Where do they go, when it rises? Are we not all in recovery?
